Connect Hi-Fi speakers to PC

I am trying to connect a pair of (unpowered) Hi-Fi speakers to my pc and occasionally my phone. My current solution is a £10 amplifier board from eBay but the quality is low, particularly at high volume.
Can anyone suggest a way of connecting these, ideally USB powered and with either USB or AUX audio in.

USB does not supply enough power to supply a high power audio amplifier. You would need AC power for a good audio amp. A used amp from E-Bay or a pawn shop is probably the best recommendation.

I havent seen any post about this topic but i have seen but they are quite old post from vary websites, are most Hifi speakers magnetically shielded and is it safe to put near my PC tower, I used to have about 3 inches away from my monitor and had no problem but no i am putting my mini hifi on a wall shelve which will be 4 inches away but above my PC tower.
