My Specs:
Computer: MSI GT70
Processor: Intel i7-3610QM CPU @ 2.30GHz 4 core (8 logical processors)
Ram: 16 GB

I'm supposed to have a working nvidia Geforce GTX 670M graphics card.

It has been working since I purchased the computer (Used), then just a couple of days ago I could not get the computer to turn on at all. It has remained plugged in to the AC adapter since I've owned it. I've only taken it off twice when it was at full battery.

Today I tried to turn it on... and nothing. after unplugging and plugging the adapter and removing and replacing the battery a few times I got it to start charging again and come back on.

When I went to play WOW I noticed that my usually perfect on ultra settings display was lagging very noticeably. I soon realized my computer was not using my Nvidia card. I attempted to open the Nvidia control panel but when I try to open it (tried as administrator, tried going into the actual nvidia folder to open.) I get no response. It's not showing up in my devices manager. When I attempted to reinstall drivers it could not find it on my laptop period.

My fiance seems to think it has something to do with the power supply, that the card is not getting enough power. However, even at 100% power it will not activate the card at start up (I've restarted quite a few times.) There is nothing wrong with the charger and the computer's diagnostics are not finding any problems with power at all.

I've been very careful as this was not a cheap laptop, so there's really no way anything could have been dislodged. It's never been dropped and there was really no problems leading up to this event.

Is there anyway to fix this problem without having to go into the laptop and physically see if there's a problem? I have no experience with laptop parts, so I wouldn't feel comfortable doing it on my own and money has been kind of tight.

Any suggestions?

Solution
Hi,

Please do try and see if you can install the latest driver and if NVIDIA support site will detect your graphics card.
- Go to this link: nvidia.com/download/index.aspx (use IE only).
- Use the auto detect feature and once it finds your graphics card download and install it in to your laptop.
- Make sure to reboot your laptop for all the changes to take effect once the driver has been installed.
- If all these steps doesn't work you may want to try doing System Restore first bring it back to an earlier date before it started acting up on you then lastly perform a Factory Reset.
