OK, I dozed off with a bowl of soup and my laptop on my lap. The soup hit the keyboard only. It was a thick soup so there was not too much penetration into the kb, and, there were no splashes on the screen section.

I got a new kb and a refurbished docking station from Capital Data. It arrived yesterday but the thing is still dead.
When plugged in it does not show a light

I do not see how to disassemble the tablet/screen section.

Any ideas, please?

Thanks

I'm glad that you had copies. Many people don't back up their data. Me, I've taught backup strategies and, to be honest, I don't do it often enough. That's why I've got a thread asking for advice on continuous backup and NAS appliances.
In all likelihood it is destroyed and cannot be made to work. If you have any data on the hard drive that you need, you might start by removing the drive and seeing if you can recover data from it. If any liquid got in the breather hole, you are probably out of luck. Sorry.

It's not so much that I had made copies, rather that I had so little space on the HD of the Acer that I moved most everything to the
SD. For example, although I saved all my 'educational videos' I lost some current work which, being Word files, made little impact on space.
That in mind, can I ask you two questions, please?

1. How dismantle the Switch 10 tablet section?
2.I need an inexpensive laptop with, say, min 500g storage, 15" screen, and on the lighter side as my main machine and have seen HP and Dell models in Walmart and BBuy for $300 to $500 that seem to fill the bill. I don't need anything special other than full Word editing function (Track Changes is essential and my Samsung Chromebook lacks this) I'll avoid Acer because I still haven't found a way to actually talk to anyone there!
But I never seem to find the "recommended budget laptops" in the stores, they seem to be at online outlets rather than in the usual stores. Perhaps that'd be the best way to go this time?

Would you have any comments or recommendations? And thank you very much for your time and knowledge.

Well, thanks for all your help. I managed to pull the back off the tablet and there were no traces of soup anywhere that I could see, but it still won't take a charge. Perhaps I can find someone local who'll test it for just a few bucks.

And, once again, Thank you.
