I have an Asus K55a laptop and I've been looking for a new laptop with a 1080p screen, but I would much rather just get my laptop a new screen and use the rest of my budget on a decent sized SSD. With my looking I think I might have found a match.
It's a replacement screen for the Asus X501a.

and here is a video for a screen replacement on the K55a.

It looks like the same port. So if I buy one of the X501a screens and put it in, would my laptop recognize it and have a 1080p screen?

Hi,

Base from it's physical appearance it may not work due to the fact it has those tabs where screws will be inserted but when I did a research about the actual replacement screen for your laptop it doesn't have that though they have the same exact connector which most laptop has those. Also from some forums I'ved read your laptop would only take in a screen which is the same with yours 1080p won't be possible. A work around would be connecting an external display that can display 1080p.
