I just repaired an HP Envy M6 1125dx, the back cover was broken off the hinges and the wifi and video cables were damaged.

All went well with the repair but after reassembling, the computer does not go into sleep mode when the lid is closed. I've checked the power settings and they're set to sleep as soon as the lid closes.

The owner is not too concerned but I've been having a heck of a time determining what type of mechanism tells the computer to go to sleep.

Some laptops have magnets but I did not find a magnet on the bezel or back cover that was replaced, I did not see a sensor board either.

The HP forums were not much help, the tech that responded just said to check the settings in the Control Panel which I had already done prior.

Does anyone here know exactly what puts this model to sleep when the lid closes?? It would be most helpful in the future or in case this person wants to do further repairs.

Thanks

Hi,

Might also be a possible software issue, try performing a System Restore and bring it back to an earlier date before the problem started happening like before the screen was replace and see if it makes any difference. And lastly, perform a Factory Reset just to remove the fact that it could be a software issue.

Hope this helps.
