My Lenovo g50-45 laptop has recently been functioning really slow. I was using the Internet when suddenly everything froze and a high pitched noise sounded. I ended up forcing a hard shutdown, but when it comes back on, everything is incredibly slow. It takes 40 seconds to boot up, and when I clicked on Webroot (my security software) it took 15 seconds to load. I tried a scan, but it was so frequently interrupted it never progressed pass 6%. Even opening File Explorer takes half a minute or more to show up, and frequently stops responding.

What has happened and how do I fix it?

Hi,

Check the laptop if it's also slow inside BIOS and you might want to run a test as well while your in it. To load BIOS turn it off first then on the left side of it where you connect the charger there's a small button that you need to press and hold then the screen should display BIOS setup. Next thing to do if it pass the SMART TEST is to perform a System Restore, roll it back to an earlier date and time before the problem started happening. Lastly, is to do a Factory Reset to reload the operating system of it.
