Hey everybody. A while ago I made this thread: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/answers/id-2461678/alienware-m17x-randomly-died.html I had some answers, but none of them worked, so since then my laptop has been sitting gathering dust (I literally haven't even touched the laptop since that thread was made). Today, however, I got it out of storage to do a comparison with a new laptop I just bought. Before I put my Alienware away, I decided to press the power button and, inexplicably, it started. It's working perfectly apart from making a quiet whining noise, and I was just wondering if anybody could take a guess and what the problem is with this new information. Is there any software I could run that may diagnose the problem? Thanks for reading!

Probably overheated or problem with bad GPU solder.

You can look on youtube tons of video on how to fix that problem.

The quiet whining noise is probably due to the cooling fan. Might want to clean it up or it might be defective.
