Possible inverter issue?

I'm trying to repair an HP Pavilion g7-1173dx laptop that will boot up normally and after a few minutes the backlight goes out and the screen becomes dark. If you shine a flashlight onto the screen you can see the image fine and on an external display there is no issue at all.
Because of this I thought that the problem would be either the Inverter or the backlight itself, however when I disassembled the laptop it appeared as though this model has the light and inverter both inside the LCD screen?
The screen model is LP173WD1 (TL)(C3) and I have replaced it with a proper replacement screen and the issue still continues.
I know how to locate and replace inverters on other laptop models, but I just don't see one in this model which is what led me to believe it was in the screen.
Any help would be appreciated.

UPDATE: I have replaced the video cable and the problem still continues

As far as I know, LED screens do not utilize an inverter. Inverters are found on LCDs implementing CCFLs, instead; this screen's lamp type is WLED.

When you replaced the screen, did you replace the video cable as well? Check the cable and the board LVDS connection for any damage? Did you test an external display, if possible?

Yes I just changed the video cable with a new one and nothing has changed.

Strange that neither the cable nor new screen are getting you anywhere. I can't really attribute it to the display adapter (GPU) either, since it was noted that you have no issues on an external.

Maybe an issue with the board, then(?). The only other thing I can think of is that the proper voltage isn't being supplied to the LVDS connection, resulting in a dim backlight. Not 100% on that, though.
