hey guys,

i got some old equipment for audio recording and well I had some serious issues with finding the right supply. The audio interface is called Marian: Ucon CX and yeah its quite old i think. So old that i cant find any original power supply cable. It needs "AC 8V / 1 A" supply and i recently bought a universal adapter which can either make 7,5V 1 A or 9V 1A..
so my question is what is better and should i even try this out??

Thanks for any replies.

incorrect. what it DOES mean is that it takes your wall AC and converts it into DC for most small electronics to use, like chargers or digital scales or whatever.

you should be able to find a 9V AC adapter on ebay cheap enough. there's a 99% chance the unit uses internal regulators to make +/- 5V rails for its audio circuitry anyways, so going from 8V to 9V shouldn't kill it.

here's an example: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/REPLACEMENT-9-VOLT-1AMP-AC-AC-POWER-SUPPLY-ADAPTER-9V-1A-1000MA-CHARGER-PSU-/251039163052?hash=item3a7319a2ac

just be sure to NOT buy anything that has DC output. a quick red flag is that if the unit has this picture (+ and - with the round parts in the center) as part of the label, like the graphic in the middle. that indicates it's DC output and you don't want that.
