I have a Toshiba Satellite P50-A. It came with Windows 8 when I bought it two years ago, and I upgraded to 8.1 when it was available. A while ago I also upgraded to Windows 10 the first chance I got, and that is where my problems began.

When gaming, I would get video tdr errors and frequent crashes (I play League of Legends and Guild Wars 2); turns out the Nvidia drivers were at fault. Nvidia finally release a hotfix with driver 355.82 and I was running smoothly up until this past Thursday, when my laptop crashed while I was watching a YouTube video.

When I started up my computer again, Windows wouldn't load. I attempted a clean install of Windows 10 from a USB flash drive created using the Windows Media creation tool. It didn't complete, I would get an error telling me not all the files were available (error code: 0x8007025D). I used another USB with Windows 10 on it, same error. I reformatted the first USB to get both 32 bit and 64bit versions of Windows 10 (again using the media creation tool) and tried reinstalling, but this time it would BSOD after "getting the files ready for installation" was at 16%. I tried the Toshiba recovery disk but Recovery also failed, I got an error telling me "a required device isn't available or can't be accessed." I followed instructions here: http://www.smartpctricks.com/2013/09/Required-device-isnt-connected.html

Tried again with the toshiba recovery disk after that, got another BSOD, though I couldn't catch the error in time. I reformatted the hard drive, removed all partitions, and I would still get errors whether I tried to install Windows 10 or 8.

I am not sure what else to try. I really need this laptop working again. Any suggestions?

Hi,

Please do try and run a test first with your HDD because the fact that you were getting a BSOD while running the recovery could mean your HDD might be

faulty or the Recovery disc.
- Load it into BIOS and look for your HDD and press Enter.
- Look for SMART support and press Enter
- Select SMART Extended self test and press Enter and that should take some time before it finish the test
- If it pass you may need to order a new Recovery disc from Toshiba since it may be damaged already.
