Hey everyone!
I had a gaming pc but now its time to move to a laptop since I moved to canada to start my masters degree in civil engineering! I am currently in london, ontario in canada and will need a laptop for some gaming and number crunching (ANSYS, nothing serious just normal number crunching hence I will need 16GB ram and a decent i7).
1. What is your budget? Hmm 2200CAD$ (not including the 13% tax, but it includes shipping) I can stretch it to 2300CAD$ Maximum if its worth it
2. What is the size of the notebook that you are considering? 17" is minimum, not going for a smaller one
3. What screen resolution do you want? 1080p is good!
4. Do you need a portable or desktop replacement laptop? My pc is back home, so this laptop will be the only thing I have!
5. How much battery life do you need? Doesnt matter much, all decent laptops have good battery life!
6. Do you want to play games with your laptop? If so then please list the games that you want to with the settings that you want for these games. (Low,Medium or High)? Yes I will... mainly Dota 2 , maybe wildstar.. worst case will be Battle field in the future (highly unlikely)
7. What other tasks do you want to do with your laptop? Gaming and also number crunching
8. How much storage (Hard Drive capacity) do you need? I want an SSD (128GB MIN) and 1TB HDD
9. If you are considering specific sites to buy from, please post their links. Nothing specific, anything that ships to canada!
10. How long do you want to keep your laptop? A minimum of 3 years, I dont game too heavy but want to play at minimum medium..
11. What kind of Optical drive do you need? DVD ROM/Writer,Bluray ROM/Writer,Etc ? No, just the standard DVD ROM
12. Please tell us about the brands that you prefer to buy from them and the brands that you don't like and explain the reasons. Heard good about MSI and ASUS, not much about the rest!
13. What country do you live in? London, Ontario in Canada
14. Please tell us any additional information if needed. Weight or bulkiness will not be an issue for me. I just want something durable that wont overheat and fry the motherboard during the first year or so! Prefer gtx 970m as graphics card if possible!
Thanks in advance,
Your experience is much appreciated
