So I just moved across the country. I thought I had shut down my laptop but it was on sleep for a few days. I turned it on and browsed the Web for a few minutes and realized my charger wasn't working. The light on the ac adapter is normally green. Now it blinks when it is connected and turns solid green when not connected to the laptop. This is what I have tried:

1) Tried to charge the laptop without the battery connected. The light on the charger still blinked. I assume this can eliminate the battery as the problem

2) I tries a different ac adapter from another ASUS laptop that I have. My ac adapter works on the other ASUS laptop and the other ac adapter doesn't charge on this laptop. The light blinks on the second ac adapter. I assume this can eliminate the ac adapter as the culprit

What could be the problem and how do I go about fixing it? Like I mentioned before, the laptop works perfectly fine. I can browse the Web and load programs. The problem is that it won't charge the battery. Thanks for all your help in advance

Hi,

Here's some troubleshooting steps you might want to try.

1. While the AC adapter is connected try to remove the battery and put it back in after couple of seconds.
2. Uninstall and reinstall the ACPI drivers found in Device Manager.
3. If all these steps didn't work you will need to contact the manufacturer and have the battery replaced

I tried step 1 and nothing changed. I tried to do step 2 but my battery ran our of power.

I'm curious though, why would it be the battery as the problem if the laptop doesn't even power up without the battery in it? I'm not saying you are wrong by any means as I am no expert. I just want to know what led to the conclusion that the battery was the problem
