hello,
i bought a Z906 system for 100$, i'm using it for gaming and music. what is the best connection to it from my PC? i have a Z87-G45 mobo. so... optical or analog? Those are my pc specs:
i7-4790k | MSI Z87-G45 mobo | 8GB hyperx beast 2400MHz RAM | GTX 980 ti | 2x
180GB KC300 SSDs (RAID 0) | 2x 500GB WD GREEN HDDs (RAID 0) | Tt Chaser MK-1
Case | Tt 1200w ToughPower Grand PSU | NZXT LCD fan controller | Z906 speakers |

Yes, but the audio signal stays digital until it gets out of the potentially 'noisy' environment of the PC to be converted in a cleaner environment. As I said before though, and I'm strengthening my comment, the analog connectors will more than likely provide awesome audio. Digital (Optical) should be cleaner, but you won't be able to tell in all likelihood.

BTW ... I've also read people having issues with the optical output after upgrading to Win10. No idea if that's been fixed yet, though it probably has, and may not affect this unit...

Optical would be the better bet for a true audiophile, analog would be cheaper to implement and you would probably not notice a difference. (You can always go optical later if you wish.)

BTW, you got that system for $100 ... good job.

Thank you, the one whose selling it was in a rush and he wants to travel.
so... optical is better. but when i use the 3 analog connectors (Green, Orange and Black) i can select 24 bits, 192,000Hz (Stufio quality), while the optical connection can only support 96,000Hz..
