alienware vs asus

Which would be better and last me long?
Alienware 15 with amplifier
I7 4710hq
980m 4gb
16gb memoryy

Asus
I7 4710hq
980m 4gb
24gb memory

My last laptop was a asus and loved it. Lasted me since 09. But the fact that alienware has it amplifier I thank it would last longer so any suggestions / opinions?

Well that depends. Do you want to have to carry around a bulky amplifier as well as the laptop? I guess you could just leave the amplifier at home whenever you are travelling with the laptop.

Just in case you are unaware, the amplifier is an external graphics box which connects to your laptop by PCIe cable. You have to go out and buy a graphics card to install into the amplifier for your laptop to be able to benefit from it. This is going to greatly increase the cost of the alienware 15 if you choose to use the amplifier (unless you already have a high end GPU just laying around to use with it). It is a cool option to have though.

I would say if you don't have a powerful gaming desktop, and this laptop is going to be what you play on all the time, then go ahead and get the alienware with the amplifier. But if you already have a gaming PC at home and just want a laptop for travel gaming, I would go with the asus.

thanks and no i don't have a gaming desktop. i like taking it with me to work. What stop me from just getting the alienware was ive always seen on forums that alienware wasnt good.
