After my brother spilled water on my laptop, the mousepad and keyboard stopped working. I went and got a new wired mouse and keyboard, but every time I try to open a file or install something it deletes absolutely everything. It's frustrating because even if I try to open my local disk, I'm scared that I will delete important files in it and it'll just mess up my computer from there. Please help! I've tried re-installing windows (8.1) and I have done multiple virus scans but have not worked..

So I found out what the problem is but still have no solution. I installed PassMark KeyboardTest and it shows that my keyboard is pressing the "Del" key 8 times or more every 4 seconds.. If somebody can help me with this problem pleasee

Solution
Hi,

This might had been caused by the spill and damaged the keyboard completely. Even though you have plugged in an external keyboard the on-board keyboard is still working. The best solution is to disable first the on-board keyboard.

How to disable the On-board keyboard
1. Press Windows and R together at the same time to bring up the Run box and once open type in "devmgmt.msc" that should open Device Manager.
2. Once it's open look for Keyboards and expand it. (Disconnect the USB Keyboard)
3. Right click on "Standard Keyboard" then select "Disable"
4. Re-plug the USB keyboard and observe it.

The issue with that ^ is that while he is trying to navigate the keyboard will keep hitting the DEL key, which won't help much getting it to work LOL

Try removing the keyboard, remove and reseat the key, re-install the keyboard. If that does not help, you can easily find a replacement keyboard, or try running it with the keyboard not even attached. With an external keyboard it may still boot OK.
