My FN key seems be turned "on" so when using my keyboad I get the numbers instead of the letters. I have tried going into the Bios setting to change this as described in another answer but I don't have a "Function Key Behavior" setting under the Advanced options. Also the key is not stuck in the down position.

Solution
Hi,

Try this few steps I got from doing research.

1. Press "fn+scroll"
2. Hold Shift + Numlock
3. Plug in an external keyboard then press Numlock then remove it then try using the on-board keyboard again.
4. If you don't have an external keyboard try these steps:
- Press Windows + R on your keyboard then type in "osk" in the Run box that will appear.
- Once the on screen keyboard is open press the following keys several times: Numlock, Scrolllock and capslock

Found the fix on another forum. It worked beautifully. Delete Synaptics Pointing Device, then reboot.

:"The culprit, as others have discovered, was the (unrequested) installation of Synaptics (Lenovo) pointing device, the icon for which appeared in the toolbox subsequent to the Windows 10 update on 16th March, 2017.
As for getting rid - difficult. Unfortunately it wasn't listed in my favourite uninstaller software, Revo, so I messed about in the registry and Programmes, finally using Windows uninstaller when it appeared there - not under Lenovo, but Synaptics.
So, it had nothing to do with drivers needing to be updated, on the contrary, it must have been Synaptics own driver/s interfering. Incidentally, though I don't think it is really relevant, the only keys which stopped functioning were digits 1 to 4, and the spacebar. The Keypad wasn't affected."

to Smoke 2071:

Thank you so much, I've been looking for this solution for a fortnight, my spacebar just wouldn't work on my Toshiba laptop without holding the FN key too. Brilliant now!
