Rear Jack Not Working With Certain Headset

Hello Everyone,

So recently I decided to switch back to my old headset because the one I was using was a USB headset, and gave me a ton of feedback (Razer Carcharias).

So I switched back to my ole' trusty Plantronics, because they are not USB powered, and still sound awesome, for a cheap, 20 dollar headset.

I have never, NEVER had an issue with configuring sound, until now. For some reason, I have to plug my microphone jack in the front panel, and my headphone jack in the back panel, in order to communicate with friends and hear them. I have a Realtek HD Audio driver as the default driver that came installed with the mobo, and a Razer Surround Sound driver for the extra "oomph". I am using a splitter extension so that my mic jack can reach the front, and my headphone jack can reach the back.

I have tried literally every combination possible. I have plugged both in the back initially, and nothing happened. I plugged the mic in the back jack, headphone in the front, nothing. Vica versa, still nothing. The only way for the headset to work properly, is to have the mic up front, and the headphones in the back. While this isn't an issue essentially, I do not like having to "jury-rig" my set up to get it to work. I should be able to just plug them in, and viola.

I have disabled different recording devices, enabled them, rolled the drivers back, updated, etc, etc. When I plug the USB headset in (Razer), I can plug them both in the back jacks and no issue at all. It is only the Plantronics headset I have to set up this wonky way to get it work. I was just wondering....why? Shouldn't I be able to plug them both in the back and it work? I noticed when I plug the mic in front it asks "what did I just plug in?", followed by the list of available inputs to check off from. It does not do that when I plug in the back, only detects it. But in my recording devices, it does not detect it at all. In fact, it says nothing is plugged in when it clearly is.

I do not know how much more thorough I could be about the description of this issue. At this point, I feel like I have said the same thing 5 times now. Is there any way at all I can set it up to where I can plug both jacks in the back, and it work? Again, I have tried EVERY step known. I messed with settings in the Realtek Audio Driver in every possible combination. I am at my wits end with this crap, and I just want to plug my stuff in to the right jacks with this specific headset so it doesn't sound like dial up in my ears every minute of the day I am online. Thanks in advance for taking the time to read, and hope there's a solution out there to this mess! I don't have the money to buy another non-USB headset or USB grounder at the moment.

Found the solution. I had to enable the front panel jacks and re-configure the entire jack detection settings to make sure it was properly reading each jack. Seems with the software update I got it changed everything back to "default" and I had my own custom settings.
