Windows Software Question

I noticed that when I open up Task Manager, around 30-40% of my processor capacity is being used up by Windows processes, and I am running an i5 5200u quad core processor.

I am wondering if there is any way to minimize the amount of drain on the processor by system resources such as:

1) Upgrading to Windows 10?
2) Deleting any local processes or disabling any functions that are unnecessary?
3) Somehow using some diagnostic tool to determine if there's any applications draining system resources beyond what I can see in task manager?

I am running Windows 8.1 on a Dell Inspiron 3000 series. I guess another good question would be what kind of junk does Dell have installed by default that I could delete also?

Any feedback would be super helpful.

Hi,

Do a complete malware/ virus scan with your PC first to remove the virus/malware factor. Disable some start up items that could make your PC run slow on startup.

To disabled start up items:
1. Open Task Manager, you can press CTRL+ALT+DEL all at the same time and select Task Manager
2. Go to the tab that says Startup.
3. Disable applications that you don't need or better yet try disabling them all.(you can still re enable them still if you need either one of them)
4. Reboot your PC and see if there would be a drop with the process.

Yeah, I think the svchost does eat up a lot during start up but also disabling applications through task manager on start up definitely helps a lot!

Thanks so much for your answers guys :) Really appreciate it
