Laptop keeps shutting down after a few seconds from a cold start

I have a Sony Vaio PCG-71318L that keeps shutting down from a cold start after a few seconds.
I've tried starting it with the battery in and out. I've removed the battery and drained all the power, then tried starting it without any luck.

Any advise on how to troubleshoot and isolate the problem?

Hello mate!
Is your laptop shutting down when you plug it into a charger? Did your operation system runs normal? Any blue screens before shutting down?

If it shuts down when not plugged into a charger, you might have a problem that my friend's computer had. Put it in a charger and turn it on. Then, check if it starts to heat up. If it is heating up before shutdown you have a problem and need to turn it off. I don't have much experience with a laptop/PC that you have, but it's mostly the same for a few laptops. If the problem has continued since you posted this, I suggest seeing an expert.
