I reformatted my laptop recently and because it's a relatively old laptop, I could only install Windows XP on it. The laptop I have is the Toshiba A100 Satellite laptop. When I bought the laptop, it came with a product recovery DVD. So I used that to recover my laptop to it's out of box state. After I completed everything, I connected to the internet and it worked fine. However, when I tried to open a webpage with IE, it said that The page cannot be displayed.

I looked online to search for solutions. I tried using msconfig to see if any third party software was conflicting with IE, but none seemed to be.

If anybody is able to help me out, that would be great!

Thanks!

Hi ptexp,

Have you tried doing a search like typing in a different website on the address bar? Something it's the welcome page that doesn't work. If it still wont work try the PC on Safe Mode with Networking.

1. Press Windows + R then type in msconfig
2. Once in System Configuration go to the tab that says Boot
3. Select Safe Boot on the bottom part and select Network as well
4. Click Apply and OK then restart the PC
5. If it works in Safe Mode with Networking download Google Chrome and install it so you'll have another browser for your PC.
6. If it still wont connect try connecting your Laptop hardwired.
7. Lastly make sure that the security for your wireless are correct.
8. And last resort is to contact your Internet Provider if all...
