Hello everyone!

I've had this Lenovo Y580 for about three years now and I love it, but this week the screen has messed up a little. The blacks on the screen turn into a shimmering green, and there seems to be a dead pixel effect just about everywhere. Especially where two different colours merge.

Here's an album of these artefacts: http://imgur.com/a/lGywi

The thing is, it happened a week ago, and the next morning it was okay again. Then the morning after it was problematic again, and that night: perfectly okay. It frustratingly fluctuates quite a bit.

I checked with an external screen to check if it was a graphic card issue, but it had no problems on an external screen so that's out of the question.

Now I'm pretty sure it's either the cable or the screen itself that's problematic. I just wanted to ask for an expert opinion before I order one of those parts and install it myself :)

Anyways, thank you in advance for reading this and helping!

Cheers :)

A laptop uses a what we call flex a thin wire that connects the LCD into your motherboard. When that flex gets damaged that's when you'll have that problem your having right now. You could consider replacing the screen already but observe for couple of more days before you do.
