Hello,
Hello.

I have a Lenovo G500 that's just been discarded. Now I have been interested in gaming and have noticed that my computer does not really have what it takes to play recent games but even the old ones.

I wonder what I can upgrade on my little garbage to make it more to an gaming laptop. But also just generally faster when opening and installing programs.

Specs for now.

- Intel® Celeron® Processor 1005M (1.90GHz 1600MHz 2MB)
- Windows 10 64
- 4GB PC3-12800 DDR3 SDRAM 1600 MHz
- 500GB HDD storage (5400rpm)
- Intel® HD Graphics

More information at: http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops/lenovo/g-series/g500/#tab-tech_specs

I have checked the SDD and RAM? Is that anything i need? Will it improve my computer when playing games?

Please help me and link good things i could buy to upgrade. My budget is around 274,40 USD.

Thanks.

That will help the computer respond faster to booting and opening programs. It will make the computer feel faster for sure.
It however does not help at all playing games, you will see no FPS improvement and will not be able to change settings in any way.

Laptops have minimal upgradeability. You cant buy the bottom end and expect to make it high end latter.

You cannot upgrade CPUs or GPUs in laptops.

You are able to upgrade the RAM to 8GB, but you wouldn't really notice a difference when playing games.

I would say that you should buy a new laptop (or desktop) that is dedicated to games. :)

Someone told me this one was good ( Samsung 850 EVO 120GB 2.5-Inch SATA III Internal SSD (MZ-75E120B/AM)

Wait what?
So i shouldnt upgrade to SSD?

I was talking about RAM/Memory. Your cpu will hold you back before 4gb of memory will. Thus upgrading from 4gb to 8gb will make little to no difference.

An ssd drive can be used in future PCs so it is always a worthwhile upgrade for anything running windows 7 or newer.

You are probably able to upgrade the Celeron 1005m to something a bit more powerful. You would need to find a chip that works on FCPGA988, would need to be a 2000-3000 series mobile processor with a 35w or less TDP, the big question is whether or not your BIOS will support the new processor, and taking apart a laptop and upgrading the processor is difficult, but you should have increased GPU and CPU performance (as the Intel IGP) will be upgraded.
