Hi guys, first off let me explain what i currently use:

Scarlett solo audio interface, headphone, AT2020 xlr mic.

Now, i have an incoming headphone (HD598, yeah, finally).
I am thinking of getting an amp/dac. My question is, what will be the setup knowing that i have an audio interface (that i need for my xlr mic). Will it be interface -> AMP -> headphone??

if i get a DAC/amp (sorry not an expert), it means i won't be able to use my mic.

if i sell my interface (and mic?), i am guessing i can get a modmic with my headphone?

any other setup suggestion is welcome. Thank you in advance.

you could go interface->amp->headphones certainly. this makes sense if you're listening to your own voice for vocal recordings.

you could also go pc->dac/amp->headphones and keep your mixer separate. listening to your own voice is a bit more of a hassle but doable.

you can still use your mic to record audio, though listening to yourself might be an issue. while possible to do it via software and settings (which sometimes has a slight delay) other people use a secondary mic (not set up to record from) to just listen to their own voice. depends on what you are comfortable with.

the at2020 is a better mic than the modmic. that would be a downgrade. they do offer a 2020usb model however the xlr gives you more control with the audio interface.

hi sir ssddx, i figured you'd reply, thank you.

yes i do like the idea of hearing my own voice without perceivable delay, and i do like my scarlett. so i guess i would be needing an amp and not a dac. Is there one that functions as both but accepts analog coming (from my interface). it would be nice to have a dac for future use (if the price is not that much different against a lone amp)
sorry if my statement is confusing :)

any suggestion for a good entry level amp? thank you
