First time poster! I appreciate taking time to view this question.

My situation:
I am looking for a laptop that I can play games on (League of Legends, various STEAM games, possibly some BF4).
I do not need anything extravagant and I don't really care about running games on max settings and graphics.
What I am interested in is finding a laptop that is relatively fast and that can play most games on medium settings.
I would really like it have Windows 7, but that doesn't seem to be likely.

Thank you guys for reading and (hopefully) responding -- I'll be waiting! Thanks!

Solution
My thoughts are that the factory 1080p panels in this price range aren't any better quality than the 768's, may have slower response time, and the 940m isn't a gamer at 1080p as well as it is at 720/768. The reason I bought it over the other ACER at $650 is because I knew the 1080p screen wasn't going to be great, and that the i7 4712MQ was worth a lot more to me than the 1080p. Basically, If you prefer screen real estate, video watching, and browsing over gaming and outright performance, the $650 Acer or the ASUS you last posted would be the one. If you prefer outright performance and gaming capability, and maybe an extra year of use out of it, the Acer E5-572G is for you, and can always be upgraded to a 1080p screen later for $50-80...

Either of those laptops should play mostly anything out right now at medium-ultra @720/768, 1080p @ low-medium on the more expensive one. The AMD is also good. If there are specific games, or programs you use, these each have their edge.

The cheaper one has a quad i7 4712MQ/940m 2GB/8GB Ram/768p/DVD/ BGN wireless. I own this one and added a 1080p IPS and a second stick of 8GB Ram and still under $700. Good chassis. Fast. Plays games at the settings above.

The more Expensive one has a i7 5500u/940m 4GB/1080P/ AC wireless. I own the i5 5200u version of this and it plays games at medium to high settings @ 768, but has a flimsy chassis, which I am assuming is the same one due to the reviews. Good hardware for the money, but if you are willing to work on yours, I would suggest getting the cheaper one and doing what I did.

The 4GB 940M isn't really going to be a significant difference over the 2GB Version. But the quad i7 is a bit better than the i7 5500u.

The MSi is a few steps down performance wise, but likely a good quality chassis. The Acer is better in every respect performance wise, and has a decent 5000mAh battery which will net you more than 6 hours of medium use in my experience so far with it, it's chassis is good also. It's not really even a competition between the two really, the Acer wins.

Yes, games will play at medium-ultra @ 720/768p with acceptable- very high frame rates. Don't worry about the dual band wireless, Just update your drivers, It's more than acceptable. Get all of your drivers and recent BIOS version from here: http://us.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/drivers This place will contain the most optimal hardware drivers vs windows device manager, which will give you a lot of generic ones. Get ones for specific OS. Delete bloatware/turn off unnecessary startup items like every retail computer. You will be more than happy.

do you think i will be disappointed in the 1366 x 768 resolution on the 15.6" screen? I'm worried about all the negative things that people have had to say about the "really nice CPU on a shitty screen..."
What are your thoughts on that?
