i am looking to getting some headphones around the £100 area and am new to the subject on what to get. I am primarily gaming on my pc, i dont most play fps's but quite often do. I have looked at the "gaming headsets" on amazon at my price range and most of the reviews are at 3 stars, however if i widen my search to all headphones i have a lot more at 4-5 stars at my price range. Is there anything wrong with getting a non-gaming branded headphones.

i do not really care about mic quality as i already have one and would probably prefer one without it as it would make it cheaper.

no you dont need a branded gaming headset, unless you want all that special 7.1 surround to hear from what exact place the footsteps are comming from in FPS's. I have a 30 euro headset and it works just fine for me.

some of those 'gaming headsets' come with software and presets for specific types of games, ie: some have a fps preset so as I said already, you'd hear the footstept a little bit better or stuff like that.
