I got a Lenovo Flex 3 last month an immediately upgraded to Windows 10. At first it was fine, but now I'm getting this weird lag about ever 3 seconds. For instance, I can draw circles on the touchpad and about ever three seconds it will freeze, and then i have to let off, and then start again. It's like clockwork. I've checked that it's not in power saving mode and it doesn't seem to make a difference, The only thing that seems to fix it is having the task manager up. No joke, as soon as I Control+shift+escape, the lag disappears, I would say it's just a coincidence, but 20 for 20 is no coincidence. It almost feels like some sort of malware is trying to hide or something. I dunno.

This is the computer, for reference.

Solution
I solved my problem. What I was experiencing seems to be a common issue with Lenovo notebooks. Disabling the process "fmapp.exe" in the task manager immediately and permanently restored my pc to a non-laggy state. I found the executable in the file system and added addendum ".killed" to the filename as to prevent it from being called (I didn't see the purpose in deleting it entirely). So far, no adverse affects have been realized.

Very interesting. I purchased a Lenovo Flex 3-1470 last month, upgraded to Windows 10, and afterwards noticed the lag in the mouse pointer and typing every 2 seconds. If I logged into another user's account on the laptop if would go away temporarily, but always leave in task manager. I even updated my BIOS that Lenovo has out for our Flex 3 1470 for windows 10, didn't fix but figured it wouldn't hurt. Then I read your post, found fmapp application in task manager as a process, and gone is the lag! Please keep me updated on what you find about this since fmapp (Realtek Audio) should not be lagging our system down. I almost went back to 8.1 because it was so annoying!

Two months later and the lag from fmapp is still gone. Not sure exactly why it was causing the problem other than a possible compatibility issue with win10. How has the performance been for you with windows 10? Mine has been making me want to shoot it. I plan on reinstalling from scratch soon.

rocketbosszach, just logged in to say that you're a warrior god. I just got my Flex 3 and was totally perplexed by the slow mouse pointer, disabled fmapp and it all went away. You rule.

Seriously man, thank you so much. This has been driving me nuts, I knew it was some random application causing but couldn't figure it out. If I knew who you were, I shake your hand and give you a 20.

I am an IT professional. My mom bought this computer. I wish she had waited for me to go with her. The CPU is pretty much crap, the hard drive is a joke (only 30GB -- really lenovo?) and it only came with 2 GB of RAM. But it is what it is so I dived into the services to see which were causing the CPU issues.

After toggling off a few system services I found that if I disabled the storage service, the CPU stopped getting pinned at 100%. Following disabling that service the CPU stabilized and now and hovers between 30-40% which has made things functional again. I also disabled the superfetch service which has been known to cause 100% disk usage.

Hey same deal for me as the top submission. Except I believe I have a lenovo flex 2. Mouse lag is a wack distraction. I tried everything I have seen on multiple forums and I must have been doing something wrong because nothing seamed to work. Reset the PC and it runs better in every other regard except for a short lag every 2-3 seconds. I was messing around with some mouse settings in the "mouse properties window" and I added the mouse trail setting. Lag gone with the check of a box. If you don't like how it looks like I do you can turn the trail down to short and you can barely notice it.

goldenboyjoe7 YOU ARE A GOD!!!! :D

I bought this Flex 2 for my son a few years ago, and after installation of windows 10 we've experienced these annoying mouselags.

I too have trawled the internet for solutions, but every solution I came across was regarding the fmapp.exe process - but it is not present in processes, apparently not on these Flex 2 units.

But after enabling the mousetrail in mouse-settings, the lag has completely disappeared - and yes, setting the trail to a minimum, it's barely noticable. Thank you SO much for your reply in this thread.

Best regards,

Mandrup.

It's there. It took me a while but I found 2 of them and it fixed my problem.

To rocketbosszach, your solution fixed the issue on my 9YO daughters Lenovo Flex. She stopped using it for almost a year for the slowness. I'm a techie so I reinstalled it with the image twice thinking it was an update or something I did. Same issue. I have so many other projects to partition and fully erase and start form scratch. Another thread site says finding the touch screen driver will only work with Linux and getting the rest is hard if your avoiding W10 and the updates.

I'm glad I came here. It took me a while but I found 2 of the file extensions (they were hiding
