Hi, I am using a remote control extender to be able to change channels on my xfinity cable box in another room. However, I sometimes want to use just my cable adapter and when I do, the remote control for the adapter also seems to want to control the cable box in the other room (through the remote control extender). This means someone in the other room watching the cable box will suddenly have their channel changed. It seems the remotes for both the cable box and cable adapter are on the same frequency and this causes problems.

This previously worked just fine. My old cable box ignored the remote control for the old adapter (being sent through the extender), but we had to get a new cable box and new adapters.

I know I could put a switch in my room and turn the remote extender on and off, but I was hoping there is some way to change the frequencies on the cable adapter and cable adapter remote instead.

Any easy way to fix this?

I might have solved my problem. I "paired" the remote control for the adapter
to the adapter box, meaning the remote will only work with that box.

After I did that, the cable box in the other room now ignores the remote
control for the cable adapter box.
