Hello,
I am confused between two laptops. The only difference between them being:
1.i5 4210u and Nvidia Geforce Gt 820m
2.i3 5010u and Nvidia geforce gt 830m
Both the laptops are of around 40k inr.

I want a laptop on which i can do programming and little bit graphic designing.I am an engineering student.Little bit of multimedia stuff like movies and all.
And gaming :D...Not big ones basically these:
1:Cs 1.6(Most of the time this only...I want constant 100fps in intense situations as well)
2:Would like to try CS Go(I am ok with 100+ fps in med settings)
3:Lol and Dota 2(playable fps)
4:Fifa 15 ( for name sake...not into fifa much...but friends play this game ).

Solution
Then the i3+830M should edge out the i5+820M in most tasks. Is there another difference? Like 2 DIMMs instead of 1 (this is important, because of the dual channel) or HDD space?

In the notebook world, the i3 and i5 are not that far away from each other like in the Desktop world.

Cheers!

Hey thanks for the quick reply.
As for another difference their are none that i can see. Both have 1tb sata hdd.No idea about DIMMS.
I was wondering if graphic designing softwares like autocad, coroldraw, adobe photoshop, etc. be slower on i3 as compared to i5....Would their be a noticable difference between the two or to be more precise would it lag on i3? :/
And what about multitasking like playing cs 1.6 and opening videos and facebook and all..can i3 handle this much without lag?

Well, since you'll be in a notebook, don't expect miracles. An i3 or an i5 in notebooks won't perform near their desktop counterparts.

Plus, the 820M and 830M are the lowest nVidia GPUs you can find in a notebook, so you'll be lucky to go past 40FPS with mid settings.

You will be able to do all that, but it won't be *that* fast.

Cheers!

Yes i know that my notebook would never match a pc with same specs,so that not a issue.
However i am concerned about the delay like i open something and i am waiting for 3-4 secs with a blank screen for it to open.Or i am playing a game and i have to google something or call someone via skype and boom tha notebook hangs.
Rest as i told i wont be playing much graphics hungry games.Only go and fifa are the high end games that i would play but i guess my graphic card could handle those?
I read somewhere i5 4th gen is faster than i3 5th gen by about 35-40%.Is it true?Thats quite a number. So if i go with i3 gen 5 will the graphic card compensate this difference between the processors?

Hey,
I went through the review of both 820m and the laptop.
The Geforce 820m as i could see from the fps provided at the bottom of the page was pretty good as far as my choice of games is concerned.
I also checked for 830m and it provides around 10-12 more fps than 820m.So u guess both are almost same.
And as for laptop with i3 they said they didnt encounter any lag in day to day activities so i guess i3 is also good. But on thus forum only i saw a thread where people told to go for i5 4th gen as compared to i3 5th gen.
This is confusing. I guess i should just flip a coin? What would you suggest?

For games, video card is more important. For everything else, the CPU.

I can't make that choice for you though. What I can tell you is, if there is a difference outside of games, you will probably won't notice it.

Cheers!
