So i grabbed a brand new 2015 Lenovo Y50 Touch for way cheap ($800) and my main use for it will be for school and schoolwork and maybe gaming on occasion. I will have it hooked up to a 46" Plasma so I wont be dealing with the heat directly and I have a Logitech K710 wireless set. So my question is how to ensure longevity. Is a cooling pad worth it to invest in (i have a budget of about $30 if so) Or will the laptop do fine on its own despite its reputation for getting hot. What budget pad would you recommend and if not what pad is worth buying if not budget. TiA!

Laptops are, as a rule, designed to handle the highest thermal load that their CPU and GPU can put out. It will do fine by itself, as long as you set it down on a hard surface, do not obstruct the cooling vents, and do not lay it on something like a pillow or bed.

It won't hurt to buy a cooling pad, though, and if you really want to spend on one, here's the Cooler Master NotePal X, which costs $18:
