I'm trying to connect a new Vizio S2120W sound stand to my Samsung 32in TV (LN32D403E4D) AND to my LG BP330 Blu-Ray/DVD player.
The DVD only has an HDMI port in the back, which is now connected to the TV. The TV has no "Audio Out" ports, so I used the optical cable to connect it to my cable box. The Vizio has no HDMI port. Vizio customer support is no help. Can anybody suggest anything? Thanks much!

Not quite. Optical from the cable box to the sound bar. HDMI from DVD to Kanex. Coax from Kanex to sound bar. HDMI from Kanex to TV. Toggle the input of the sound bar between optical from the cable box and coax from the DVD player.

A quality RCA cable will work between the Kanex and the soundbar. It says "coax" but it really can be a quality RCA cable.

Thanks for the suggestion. Just so I'm clear: it's the DVD's HDMI cable to the Kanex "HDMI In." Then, optical cable from Kanex "SPDIF Out" to the sound bar's "SPDIF" port. Then, RCA on the sound bar to RCA on the TV? Thanks again.

I am making the assumption that you CAN toggle the input of the sound bar between the optical and COAX inputs. Double check your owner's manual to verify that.
