hello guys I just want some help with my new lenovo y50 gtx 860m 4gb gddr5 !!! I bought this laptop a month ago or maybe more I don't remember, anyway I just had this serious stuttering freezing issue with almost all my video games and software editing apps I just noticed that my hard drive is operating almost 100% when I feel the stuttering begins and I disabled the antivirus and all background settings and I put it on high performance power plan and even with Razer game booster it didn't work . and I reinstalled my windows 8.1 just to make sure it's not the OS fault but after reading another threads I saw that its actually the HDD fault it acts like crazy all by itself !!! my question is if I replace my 1tb sshd 5400rpm with a better 1tb 7200 rpm does this fix my problem ?!

It might fix that problem. Though, i'd recommend you to pick 250gb SSD and using that 5400rpm stock HDD as external storage. That's what i did with my Lenovo y50.
SSD will drasticly improve your overall experience.

thanx for the fast response xemko !! I used to have the y510p sli and it did not stutters like this one even using the same games like dishonored,
and dishonored work very smooth on my y50 but after like every 5 minutes my fps drops like 50% with no reasons !!!
but I would buy a ssd but I want more storage than 250gb something like 750gb or more but I don't think there is an ssd's with this kind of storage right ? so you don't recommend me a 1tb 7200rpm ?

1tb 5400rpm stock HDD is indeed pretty slow drive, though i don't remember myself facing those odd freezings as you do.
Anyway, I wouldn't recommend a 1tb 7200rpm as an upgrade. SSD will be much wiser upgrade, and will you give you noticeable boost. There are 500gb / 1tb drives. Samsung 850 EVO is a very solid choice.

okay well I searched for it and I found that the 1TB Samsung 850 evo cost like 380$ !!!!
well I kinda don't want to pay more than 150$ for a fix to my laptop especially after paying like 1300$ for my y50, do you suggest to take it back to lenovo cause I still have warranty in it and I haven't used it that much !! do you think they could fix my HDD problem ?

hey dracoit I fixed my problem by replacing the 5400 rpm with an SSD Kingston v300 440gb it worked like a charm , cause I heard that SSD's are more powerful for gaming !!! and that all hdd may cause a little stuttering and laging while gaming so if your going to buy the 7200Rpm its gonna fix like 95% of your problem but SSD are better for smooth gaming performance and loading times
but hey guess what now I have a new problem with my laptop and its screen blinking and flickering !!!
this laptop is starting to piss me off man !! anyway before replacing your hard drive did you tried to put it on high performance mode and put the nvidia as the default graphics !!!
