Greetings,

So I have a peculiar issue with my laptop running Windows 10. On occasion and with increasing frequency, the computer will stop what it is doing and immediately load into the BIOS without warning. It doesn't appear to simply restart, but literally go from what it's doing, straight into the BIOS.

Once in the BIOS, I would navigate to exit the BIOS. On occasion, this would work immediately and Windows 10 would load up, but it usually takes me a few tries as the BIOS simply loads again after attempting to exit the BIOS via 'Save Changes and Exit' or 'Discard Changes and Exit' (with no changes being made, of course).

I haven't ruled out the possibility that this is a hardware issue. Several weeks ago (while still using Windows 8.1) I opened up my laptop to the GPU and CPU to repaste using arctic silver and put it back together without too many problems. I would see strange green pixels for the first few start-ups but I would then simply double check all of my components and install the latest Nvidia drivers and it would be fine. So, when Windows 10 was released I jumped on-board.

In terms of hardware, no components appear to be hot or warmer than expected, both fans appear to be functioning normally, and I haven't had any display issues after repasting since upgrading to Windows 10. I have not seen this error reported in other forums so I'm inquiring to the experts here.

If I can't find a reliable solution I will try and roll back to Windows 8.1 to see if the issue persists. If anyone has experienced the issue and knows of a quality fix, I will be happy to undertake it. If you need any further information about my build I will be happy to provide it. Thank you very much.

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Hi,

What I can suggest is to reset BIOS into default by removing the CMOS battery then just put it back in and see if the same problem persist. Also do consider updating your BIOS into it's latest version. Here's the link where you can download the latest updates for your laptop. https://www.asus.com/support/Download/3/521/0/2/x1g0H6pE0yWYGV8x/45/
