For an 8 year old laptop you may as well replace the full system. Cost depends on model, what exactly needs to be done and if you can do the work yourself or not. Generally a laptop screen replacement with parts and labor is about $140 for a cheaper model and can go up for a better quality screen.
I would suggest a new (used laptop) I purchased this model Dell E6510; came with DVD Rom, 750gb hd I upped the ram from 4 to 8 gb this has Intel in side. 2 processors with dual cores each. These are the level 5 at 240 hertz base, and bursts to 320 hertz. Bought thru an Amazon listing for $299.99, I have owned this model for about 6 months - no problems.

You should look into your laptop a bit, none of what you said about the CPU is correct. It's a single CPU with multiple cores not two CPUs, for "level" 5 is, you probably mean i5 which is the CPU model range, and the CPU speed would be 2.4 mhz not 240 hertz.
