Red Boot/Windows screen

I have a DV4-2145dx and when I boot it up the screen is red instead of black, I have tried safe mode still red, but when i connect an external monitor it is normal so I do not think it is a driver/motherboard/video card issue. I am leaning that it is either the lcd screen or the video flex cable and was wanting input on which might be the culprit before I go spending money.

Sounds like the cable connecting the screen to the system board may have come loose or is bad.
