I just got this model, and installed windows 8.1 on it. Now the laptop seems to run pretty slow, so i opened Task Manager and saw my HDD is under 100% load by "Service Host Local System", which i assume is the consequence of downloading and installing windows updates. The HDD is 1TB 5400RPM, is this what i should get with such HDD? How much will my experience improve if i change to an SSD?

You can disable several Windows services like Superfetch, Windows Search and BITS and see whether the issue persists: http
