I plan to buy a Philips Soundbar - but it has 1 HDMI (1.4 with ARC), 1 digital-optical, 1 coaxial-digital and 1 Analog Aux (3.5).
The Sony HD-TV has 4 HDMI - only 1 is with ARC.
I need to connect the Cable box to the TV over HDMI (due to HD).
And to get good surround sound I would like to connect the TV to the soundbar also on HDMI.
Is there any way to do this using a daisychain HDMI adapter / cable, so the the HDMI goes from the Cable-box to the Soundbar to the TV.
I would like to reserve the 1 Optical input on soundbar for other audio equipment. (though the TV has Optical Out)
Appreciate any thoughts / suggestions on this - Thanks in advance.

If you connect your soundbar to the HDMI input labeled ARC it will work fine for you. ARC (audio return channel) will send the audio from whatever the TV is playing to the soundbar.
Connect the cable box (and other video sources) to the other 3 HDMI inputs.
Turn on the ARC in the TV and soundbar menus if needed. Select the ARC input on the soundbar for all you video sources and optical for your audio equipment.

Thanks - this looks the only solution for this case (I was wanting to avoid using a second HDMI on the TV).
However, now I have decided to go in for a higher model of Soundbar (HTL6140) which takes an input from the cable-box and the HDMI out connects to the TV with ARC. Hopefully this will work well.
Thanks again
