I'm not trying to sound like a/n jerk/idiot but I just think-no... Wait I know its obsolete. So my question is what reason is it there for? Yes my laptop also has HDMI but why vga instead of dvi???

Solution
easy answer.
HDMI, DVI, Display Port... are all digital and have cheap converters readily available to switch between the three.
VGA is analog... Fist this would easily convert to other analog outputs for connection to older dipsalys/projectors and second this would need more expensive active converters to convert to digital outputs.

So by giving you both, they have covered all the bases!

DisplayPort++ technically supports conversion to other formats including VGA through a passive adapter.

The main reason, IMHO, is that schools, universities, and meeting rooms in businesses were all wired with VGA to the projectors.

Laptops seem split between HDMI (for personal laptops, multimedia use) and Displayport (business laptops, largely. Toshiba has some that only have DP and VGA out). Re-running all the cabling as a new digital standard would mean choosing between these two.

HDMI can't usually be passively converted to Displayport.
