So I am going to college and need a laptop for some specific purposes. I need to be able to word process, browse the internet, and run programs like pdf readers, coding applications, etc.

I would also like it to be able to stream netflix and twitch well. As well as being good for light gaming (decent framerates on CS:GO and League of Legends)

Top of the budget is 800 dollars but would like to keep it around 700 if possible, but I want quality over flashy features. The most important things to me is build quality, portability, and function. I need it to be light, thin, do the things I specified above, and last me a long time.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks guys!

I'd recommend the 11-inch MacBook Air. It has all the things you asked for (decent framerates, really solid build quality, extremely thin and light, great battery life, really portable, and it'll last you a long time, also with Apple's excellent customer support.)

Both of the games you mentioned are available natively on OS X, and you can always install Windows on it for anything you need that can't be done in OS X. The Core i5 and HD 5000 graphics on it can handle LoL and CSGO with ease.

You mentioned you're going to college so you can pick one up with Apple's education pricing at $849

Or you can buy a refurbished one from Apple (which still comes with all the standard support...

Funny I actually am typing this out on the macbook. My mom got it for herself because she loves the customer support they give. I have been giving a lot of thought to booting Windows 10 on a macbook mainly because the great battery life, build quality, etc. I don't think I would use the native OSX because of compatibility issues with my desktop PC I am bringing, but thanks for the link to the cheap one, I will definitely check it out
