ASUS G550JK overheating while sleeping.

So, starting yesterday, I noticed my ASUS G550JK was BURNING hot when I picked it up and opened it. It was hot enough to start causing problems with the trackpad, so I did a hard shut down and let it cool. I booted it back up and used it for about 4 hours with no heating issue at all. I downloaded Coretemp and turned on the High Temp Shut off in the settings. Today, I picked up my ROG and opened it and it was in hibernation when I woke it up the High Temp Pop UP window was up for Coretemp. I have never had an overheating issue with it before, the weird part is, it is ONLY overheating when I close it and it goes into sleep mode....

Suggestions? Or can Tech support give me some pointers?

I did a thorough run through of the task manager, and services running. There's nothing listed as running that I did not recognize or find a quick answer to. I imagine a Bitcoin Miner would be pretty easy to weed out, usage versus name of the program or process.

Nothing seems CPU or GPU intensive and while I am on the Machine it averages a 54 degree temp. Other thoughts?

Actually, many bit-mining bots are very sneaky and low key - had it not been for overheating, you probably would still be unaware. Look for processes that remain completely idle (they wait until sleep to take over), have been recently installed, and/or have math related names to begin with. Malwarebytes and some other programs may find the bots but it's likely that it was installed in such a manner (add-on to other "legit" program) that it appears legitimate to the OS, anti-virus and anti-malware programs which makes removal that much harder.
Try malwarebytes to start with, it may find the program, if not, it'll take some time and effort to find and eliminate the bot (registry edits, etc.).

Ran a scan with my Mcafee ASUS edition, and Malwarebytes. Both came up clean. The last temp spike came while I was on the machine, and when it spiked I opened Task Manager and it showed a HUGE spike of CPU activity for Chrome.... but Chrome isn't open when the computer is sleeping... For fear of cooking my hardware I have gone to using my Desktop.
