So i just did a shut down with a new update that the computer needed for windowws 7. but then when i went to try to turn it back on, it can not. I did try to do a hard reset, still nothing. I also had opened the bottem to see how the inside looked. Im a computer geek so i know the most id didn't do anything wrong there, but im a littl confused why it still not turning on.....i read some other places, and they said it may be a bad MB, but i highly dought it. I just had turned it on and off like 5 mins ago.....nothing seemed wrong when it did either. so now whats your thoughts?

You might be able to get a refurb mobo cheap, just do the research and make sure it's the revised board that isn't prone to issues. IMO, to repair or upgrade really depends on what you can afford and what you use it for.

They had a really bad run with the mobos on that series, almost everyone I knew that had a dv6 had to get their mobo replaced or replaced it just to avoid the risk.

It could have failed at any time while it was still running, and only kept going because it was on. I've seen it happen with older hardware, after turning it off and back on, more parts have failed.
