Hp laptop won't start

Some other ideas from the forum:
a) Boot without the RAM modules.
b) Boot without the WLAN module.
c) Boot with AC cable but without the battery.

From your description it might be the WLAN module that causes the laptop to stall. If not, it's most likely the CPU, which is very bad news.

If your laptop is more than two years old, it might be prudent to clean the interior with a very soft piece of cloth (microfibre). Clean as much as you can, even hard-to-reach nooks, and especially anything that rotates/moves. With modern laptops, it takes only minute amounts of dust to cause overheating which will cause the laptop to shut down to protect itself. Also, check that all lids, covers and caps are not jammed or loose. And remove any external devices that might be inserted (USBs, SD cards etc).
