Which Laptop would you recommend for a Freshman College Student?

Hi! We are looking to get my son a Laptop for College. We have decided on the Lenova brand. Could you recommend a model? Something not too heavy, lots of battery life and plenty of storage....and should we stay away from the "Hybrids"?
