From a hardware point of view the Core i7-4720HQ is more powerful than the CPU in a console.The nVidia GTX 960m is at least equal to the GPU in a PS4, but is more powerful than the GPU in a Xbone.

If gaming is the primary goal and you want the best bang for the buck, then a console is your best bet. The hardware in a console will remain the same when it is released to when it is retired. That means whenever a game is released for the console it will run well on the console (excluding any developer screw ups). A PS4 / Xbone game released now or in 2020 will run the console regardless when you bought the console. Also, because the hardware does not change game developers can optimize the game to run on consoles.

Hardware for desktops and laptop are constantly being released every year. Because of this newer games for PCs / laptops will always have higher system requirements than older games. The Asus laptop can still play games in 2020 (assuming it does not break), but not as well as it can play current games. You will need to lower graphic settings because by 2020 CPU and GPU would have probably advanced 4 or 5 generations for PCs and laptops while PS4 and Xbone consoles will still have hardware from 2013.

The laptop is much more versatile since you can do more than play games and watch videos with it. It is also portable so you can carry it around with you and play games just about anywhere as long as there is an AC outlet.

It depends on what is more important to you.

If you want something to play games and don't really have to worry about buying new hardware to play newer games, then a console is for you. If you want something that is really portable and can do more than just play games, then the laptop is better. Just understand that you will need lower the graphic settings of future games that will be released for the PC to get good performance or buy a new laptop which will have better hardware.

Personally, I do not play console games. I prefer keyboard and mouse controls, and in the past many o the games I played were never released on a console.
