So I'm going to be majoring in computer science this coming year and am looking at laptops for college. I have one picked out, but I am still unsure of it and want some opinions because I wasn't able to find much about this device. Would this be a good laptop for college?

I would like to stay within this price range (not much higher) and am open to other suggestions. Also, I game somewhat, but I also plan on bringing my desktop to college so I can always use that for gaming...

Thanks!

That is a very good laptop. As long as you don't do any heavy gaming on it, it should last a long time .
But my best suggestion is to get a laptop with a powerful cpu and then ofload the games to the desktop or get a low end laptop for taking notes and then use the desktop for both programming and gaming.

That looks like a nice machine for the price.

One thing to consider, especially since you are bringing a desktop, is that portability and battery life make a laptop much more useful for student tasks. It can really be a pain to lug a heavy laptop around. Since you have the power of a desktop, I would consider looking at one of the Core M models. They aren't powerful enough for gaming, but you can take them anywhere without needing to think about it. Almost none of the things you will do for class will require heavy processing power.
