I am looking for help deciding on a low-end Surface Pro 3 or the upper tier Surface 3. The price after purchasing would be roughly the same at street value now, and I would like to hear some opinions from current college students, or those who carry the Surface Pro and/or Surface on a daily basis.

Things to keep in mind:

I have a beautiful MacBook Pro Retina 8gb ram and 256 gb storage that I use for Photoshop, Final Cut Pro, and the other "hardcore" stuff for my intended major.
I am looking for a machine that I can use for downtime fun (I have a lot), reading electronic textbooks (way too many), and for taking notes by hand (will be doing a lot).
I do not use a lot of space on my tablet/phone, but I do not know if I need the horsepower, screen size, and most importantly, price of the Pro model.

If there is anyone out there in the same situation as me, I would like to hear from you! Business professionals that carry Surfaces daily or those who use a tablet for names are also welcome to chime in. I would love to hear as many responses as possible!

Whatever I decide, I will post back thoughts on the device itself.

Thanks all!

I don't have one, but I have been thinking about buying a Surface 3 or the less expensive Lenovo Yoga Tablet 2 to toy around with and basically read ebooks and watch videos while commuting. Perhaps the following video comparison between the Surface 3 and Surface Pro 3 will help while you wait for responses from actual owners or other students with the same predicament.

I should mention that Windows 10 will be released on July 29th. There is a strong possibly that Microsoft will be debuting the Surface Pro 4 at that time which means the Surface Pro 3 would likely get discounted to sell off existing stock when the SP4 is released.
