So the Lenovo Y50-70 series was on sale and I bought one this last week. Since I've gotten it I've had a number of issues with it. Videos stuttering/freezing, hard drive problems, odd stuff like that. I'm only familiar with the basics when it comes to tech, so does anybody have any suggestions as to what I should do to get it set up and working properly? I've read elsewhere that it comes with issues and requires some work out of the box, but I'm not sure what I should be doing other than updating drivers.

Get everything up to date and use a program like HWMonitor to watch your temps. If the temps are high, get a good cooling pad.

Also, you can try setting the power options to "High Performance" and see if that helps.

As these are some pretty heavy issues, it be safer to go their way. however, having said that, Hard drive problems are rarely fixed. It is most likely a lost cause, and will just eventually collapse. You would be better off trying to get a replacement laptop, than voiding your warranty by opening it up, or editing root files.
