Laptop overheating at 60% CPU usage, but when rendering videos at 100% it's cool.

The title pretty much says it all. I'm currently doing light gaming on a laptop, I'm saving up for a custom gaming desktop PC.

When I play Left 4 Dead 2, which I'm sure this laptop can max out at 60fps, I play on low settings and use RivaTuner Statistic Server to cap the FPS at 61, trying to make the CPU and GPU usage as low as possible, to prevent overheating.

According to HWInfo64, my CPU temps when idle are around 45ºC.
I volunteered to make the graduation video for my school, and when I render it, CPU usage goes up to 100%, but temps never go past 75ºC.

However, I just had the idea to use the on screen display form RivaTuner to check my temperatures while gaming, as I felt the laptop a bit hotter than usual. My results: CPU & GPU usage won't go above 60%, but CPU temp is 84ºC.
Then I used Prime 95 to stress test my CPU, and then temps won't go beyong 78ºC when CPU is 100%.

Does anyone know what is going on? Why are my temperatures higher when gaming at 60% CPU usage than when rendering at 100% CPU usage?

well prime don't use much gpu so lower heat generated from it...
not sure about rendering if it also use both gpu & cpu to some extend

the more equivalent benchmark is running prime95 and heaven/valley benchmark at same time..
(torture test)..

Anyways try clean for any dust in the ventilation hole of laptop,
also cooling pad can helps a lot,
for the mean time try using eraser or something to make some room under the laptop, so it can breath see if it helps..
