Hi guys,
i found a laptop passing by the trash and i tried to start it and the battery light started flashing.I opened the cover of the laptop and found that the HDD is missing(normal). It doesn't state anywhere in the laptop what's the model but i am pretty sure i found it in the internet Toshiba Satellite L305-S5918.
It says that it needs a 19v 3.95A charger and i have a charger from my moms laptop that has 19.5v and 3.3A.Pretty sure i can't make it work but what are my options? If only i could see if the monitor is working...Is there anyway to charge it or use it without it's charger?
Thanks!
Alex

Personally I have a universal charger ( power cord) which comes with several connectors. Just get one and plug it in. Otherwise you will have to buy the aftermarket charger to check it. Quite possibly the battery will not hold a charge and the laptop was thrown out.

i am more interested in the monitor of the laptop.I have actually a universal charger but i am not sure if it's working...I have pulled it apart but haven't touched anything, just took the cover out.I will see if i can make it work.It has one plug only and that's not compatible.I will see if i can solder it to the motherboard and hopefully nothing explodes....

I digged up my charger and found out that it's only 48W.It doesn't state how many amps it output's but if it's 48W and outputs 19V then it's 2.5A.It has multiple options like 9.5V, 12V, 14V, 16V, 19V, 20V, 24V.The laptop states that it's charger is 75W 19.5V at 3.95A.What do you suggest me to do?

Won't the amps be an issue?I don't have a connector so i am going to either solder it to the motherboard or find one that fits from another power supply.

You must also meet the voltage requirement (it's specified for a reason). Too high will damage components in the laptop. Most likely taking out the power board. Too low and nothing will work.

My charger doesn't state what amps it outputs but it says that it's 48W.So if i put it at 19V it's gonna output 19V and 2.5A due to P = I * V

I just tested an another power adapter because the previous was not outputing anything and it's working fine. It's a 19V 2.1A charger and i was able to boot into bios and mess around.Unfortunately i wasn't able to boot into a OS because i don't have a 2.5" HDD and i can't make a 32GB stick to work as a HDD(The laptop keeps beeping and i assume it's because it doesn't recognise a HDD)

you can try it just to see if laptop works as I've done the same similar thing as what you are going thru with the laptop. as soon as I found the laptop worked, I reconfigured another laptop power adapter that was right voltage & more amps then laptop need to work with the laptop.

try booting off a windows disk to see if it boots up off the rom drive as that is what I did to the above laptop as it had no hard drive either.

The laptop works to the point of BIOS.After that i don't know since it's constantly beeping and i turn it off because the beeps are loud.In the bios everything is working fine.I might have not put anything tight when i disassembled the laptop.I am going to try tomorrow.Maybe it's because it has no hard drive but that seems unlikely. Also the beeps are endless as far as i know because i counted atleast 15 and they go fast.
