Hi Guys,

I'll try to explain the best way I can.

I have:

a). F&D f3000 u speakers (http://www.snapdeal.com/product/fd-f3000u-51-channel-5000w/1402282)
b). Asus Xonar DG Professional Sound Card (http://www.amazon.in/Asus-Xonar-DG-Professional-Sound/dp/B00445BQ78)

To get 5.1 surround sound from the speakers, I have to connect 3 RCA Audio Red / White Cables between the speakers and lets say, the Philips DVD player. After connecting, I play a few songs and in order to get sound from all the 5 speakers and the Subwoofer, I have to press the PRO button on the remote/speaker.

That's the working part which all of you might know. However, the thing which I have observed is that the output is being originated only from the Front left/right ports of the speaker. When I remove the cable from FL and FR section, there's no sound at all from any of the speakers, although the cables are connected to the Side Left/Right ports and the Center/SubWoofer ports.

Could someone please explain me as to why there's no sound when the Front ports are not connected but the center and the sides are connected.

Also, if I connect only the Front left n right ports, then I am getting the sound from all speakers without having to connect the RCA cables to the Side left and right and the center/subwoofer ports.

Sounds confusing right, but please help!!

When you play a CD, which is stereo, you select PROlogic surround sound which synthesizes surround sound from the 2 front channels which are active.
When you play a DVD which has 5.1 channel output your DVD is mixing all the sound into 2 channels because the audio set up menu of the DVD needs to be set to 5.1
You would not use the PRO mode in this case since the DVD is processing the audio for you.

Thank you for the reply.

I will try connecting the speakers to a 5.1 dvd player and will check.
