I've owned a Acer TimelineX 3830TG-6412 for the last three years. It's been the best laptop I've had in 10 years, and feel it's still so current that I shouldn't need to buy a new laptop. I'm looking at upgrading it now, and wondering what the best bang-for-the-buck upgrade would be for my laptop.
I use this laptop as my sole computer. I use it for gaming (some 3D), photo editing, video editing, content creation, etc...I'm not an IT person, but I push this thing....but never have had the throttling issue that has been noted in other online posts.
The current specs for the the laptop is:
i3-2310M (2.1 GHz, dual core)
4 GB 1333 DDR3 RAM (upgradable to 8GB)
750GB WD Blue 5400 SATA II HD (controller is SATA III)
Geforce GT540M 1 GB
Upgraded to a Intel 7260 WIFI card (AC 2X2)
I'm looking at the upgrade either:
8GB of DDR3 ($68)
256GB SSD (looking at the Samsung EVO 850, $150)
Which one? Would I geta 3X increase from moving to the SSD over the ram?
